“ One Valley, One Community, One Vision for the Future”
The following is an update on the capital campaign underway to build two new churches for The Parishes of the Valley. The theme of our endeavor is, “One Valley, One Community, One Vision for the Future”. We are excited about our accomplishments to date and proud to report on recent activities!
Prior to beginning any fundraising, a Planning Study was conducted in the spring of 2022. As part of the study, personal interviews were held with members of the parish and its leadership. Approximately 50 interviews were completed. The general purposes of the study were to determine support for a capital campaign, identify volunteers, establish a realistic financial goal and most importantly make sure our building plans would resonate with parishioners. The study results were positive and confirmed we could move forward with a campaign.
The campaign kicked off last fall and is presently in what is called the quiet phase. During this phase we are seeking leadership type gifts and hoping to generate a good portion of the funds needed for the buildings. A Campaign Committee has been formed to assist Father Jose Maria and they are focused on first meeting with the interviewees from the study (as is Father too). Many of those interviewed indicated significant gifts and thus the reason to begin with them. The campaign goal is $20 million, and we are happy to announce we have reached 20% of that figure in pledges from just a handful of gifts. Personal visits continue to be scheduled and small gatherings are taking place to connect with potential donors as well. We expect to conclude this current phase over the coming summer.
The campaign will continue into 2024, so we have a way to go. This will give us the time to be sure we reach all our households – please be patient. One challenge we face is the transient nature of the folks who live in the valley community. It does take time to meet with parishioners and knowing when they are present. However, we will work hard to give everyone a chance to learn about the project and consider their support going forward.
